Easter is an important festival in Upper Lusatia and is celebrated with numerous traditions such as Easter singing, Easter “shooting” and the Easter water-fetching ceremony. You can also admire the art of Easter-egg decorating in museums and at the local markets – and pick up some beautiful Easter decorations to take home.
The main attraction is the Easter horse parade on Easter Sunday. Hundreds of riders in frock coats and top hats carrying church flags parade on brightly decorated horses through the local towns to spread the good news about Jesus’ resurrection and to bless the newly planted seeds.
